Many Americans have long been constitutional Know Nothings. A 1979
Gallup poll found that 70 percent of respondents did not know what the
First Amendment was or what it dealt with. A 1991 American Bar
Association poll found that only 33 percent of Americans surveyed knew
what the Bill of Rights was. A 1987 survey found that 45 percent of
adult respondents believed that Karl Marx’s communist principle “from
each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs” was in
the U.S. Constitution. The recent poll found that 36 percent of
Americans believe the right to a public education is guaranteed by the
First Amendment. This widespread notion vivifies the failure of public
schools. More years in government schools have done little or nothing to
help citizens understand the limits on government power codified by the
Founding Fathers. Politically controlled education can't be trusted to
enlighten people on the perils of political power. ...
Can you have reasonable HOA with sooooo stupid people?
