In late 2004, Olmeda put her home on the market as she got ready to move to
Austin, Texas. Eighteen months and two Realtors later, the home was still
for sale.
Olmeda contributes her inability to sell the home to what she deems high
homeowner fees at Grandover; fees have been raised from $305 a month to $460
a month over the last year -- a 50 percent increase.
"It definitely was a detriment to selling the house," said Olmeda, who gave
up trying to sell the house and is renting it instead. She is still,
however, paying the monthly maintenance fee.
