Help with deeded road Kevin Carlson 05-06-2006
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I recently purchased
a lot in Wisconsin within the City limits of a town. The public street ends
around 250 feet before my lot begins. My lot is 150 feet wide. I've to
extend city water and sewer via individual service lines at my expense but
am wondering if the City should have to extend the road for me to have
access to my land for building my new home. There is land in front of my
lot that was deeded to the city years ago for a road, but one has never been
put in because no one has built back there.

I was told by the city I could put gravel at my expense where the road would
be. But after talking to my excavating guy, he had said that wouldn't work.
I'd have to haul shell rock and build the proposed road up more
otherwise the cement truck would get stuck. Shouldn't the City be required
to put a road in for me since they own the land? If I build it up to road
spec, at the very least shouldn't they have to pave it?

Thanks in advance of any input or advice,
Kevin
