We have a 17 inch wide countertop space for our microwave, and are looking
for the largest capacity and highest power that will fit. We have a 5+ year
old Sharp Platinum Collection oven 1000Watt that has its touchpad keys and
display built into the full width door, so that the interior width is only
approx. 2 inches narrower than the exterior width. Now that the Sharp is
dying (cannot see LCD display) we are surprised that we cannot find anything
like it on the market anymore. The secret is going to be either the keypad
on door, or buttons above the door rather than on the right side of the door
(like some $500+ commercial microwaves I have seen.) The door needs to be
approx. the full 17 in width. Does anyone know if anything is available like
this at < $200 or so?
