I live in a neighborhood with a lapsed/defunct HOA that a few neighbors are
trying to resurrect. I and several other neighbors specifically moved here
because the HOA was dead. (There are no common areas. No dues have been
collected in at least ten years.) We have CC&Rs that came with the house,
though it was strangely difficult to find a copy of them because the HOA had
been dead for years.
I need help in finding simple, persuasive arguments against reforming the HOA.
I'm vehemently opposed to letting some busybody tell me what kind of shrubs I
can plant and what color I can paint my house and how long my garage door can be
open. But I do not want to go off on a tirade at the first meeting if I can nip
this in the bud without sounding like a maniac. Which will happen if I get
worked up without solid facts.
Please help, the meeting is June 7. Any links to anti-HOA FAQs or resources
greatly appreciated.
