Obtaining a Cert. of Occupancy for changes done by the previous owner elanamig 03-24-2006
Hello, all!

We're considering buying a house in Nassau County, NY, where the
following changes were made without obtaining a Certificate of
Occupancy:

1. They converted a ground-level attached garage into a living room.
2. Built an outside 3-seasons room (not on the foundation of the
house, but attached to the house)
3. Built a detached shed/garage at the end of the backyard.

How difficult and expensive is it to obtain a C.O. after these changes
were done? We like the house (and like the changes), but are concerned
that we might have trouble getting the mortgage and selling the house
later on...

Thanks!!
Elana
