Is there a visible ant hill outside, where the ants live? I got rid
of an invasion of foraging ants inside a couple years ago by pouring a
few pots of boiling water on their nest outside. After that, any
remaining ants from that nest decided to relocate, and they have not
been back since.

The boiling water will kill vegetation, too, so watch where you put
it.
