I've a clock from my grandmother that smells like that dusty ole
farmhouse. Over the several years since I have had it...it has
diminished.

I would be interested in any ideas as well.

But, I would start with a good wood polishing. Murphy's Oil Soap perhaps,
and a coat of dusting wax would work wonders as a first order fix.
Not good way to handle the innards of the clock without risking
damaging the movement, but that will dissipate over time. Perhaps a
small electric fan placed in the base and pointed up to get some
airflow over it to dissipate maybe. Febreeze does nicely on smoke
smell, but I would be hesitant to use it directly on wood finishes. maybe
a light misting in front of the fan wouldn't hurt to help with the
inside cabinet.

But basically, a wipe down with murphy's oil soap will got a LONG way
I imagine.
