Well, now that you have publically raised these issues and expressed
your concern about safety, while noting out that you've found a loophole
in the law (whoops, I mean a "technicality"), and that you could save
some or all of the $18,000 (thus making it all about money), I'd say
you'd be hard pressed to isolate yourself from any liability should
something go wrong.

Personally, I would be suprised if you get an adult stupid enough to
volunteer for lifeguard duty.
