My friend is (was) a builder. He said a framer will probably charge me $15,000
for a 1000 sq/ft
dormer. After that, it would probably cost me a total of $75,000 if I GC it out.

The alternative the same friend gave me is to buy the 2nd floor from a pre fab
manufacturer for
approx $30,000 complete. If that is the case, I'd rather go that route and
pay more up front and
less in the long run. Does this sound sensible?
