BMW had (has?) a shaft driven motorcycle. You could
have a PTO and clutch that would select between the
drive shaft and a belt or chain drive for the prop.
Then use a variable pitch prop so you can take
advantage of the transmission to keep the prop
rpms low for high torque at high engine rpms.
