Ridgid used to make all of Sear's wet/dry vacs
("Shop Vac" is a trademark, thus their different term),
and are now sold direct at Home Depot.
Some models have a latching hose.
All their "peak horsepower" ratings are bogus, so I am unsure
if the 8 gal is anywhere as strong as the 16 gallon.

Sears' wet/dry vacs look reasonable again
so that's a better deal when they're on sale.
No need to pay over $100.00

I've an old Sear's 16 gallon wet/dry vac
and it'll guzzle up small hardware without problem.
I put a cloth bag over the corrugated filter
to make it easier to clean with minimal suction loss.
There are now HEPA and near-HEPA filters for it too:
far better than just foam or paper-bag filters.
