Each quick disconnect is already mounted on a ball valve. <:-))

The safest is to be using the hose near the limit of its reach and
exit the area if it lets go<:-)) Been there, done that, been lucky.
The hose is going to use where ever it is last held down as a pivot
point. If outside its reach walking back and turning it off is easy.
If there is 50 feet of hose and none of it tied down it'd be far safer
to take the shortest route out of danger and then get to a shutoff.

I am not so concerned about myself as I'm some one else using the air
lines that's not familiar with the dangers.

Being some what frugal, I generally disconnect the lines, turn off the
ball valves, turn the manifold feed off at the compressor, and turn
off the power at the compressor as it may not get used for a week or
two and then get a lot of use for an hour or two.

My wife knows to use the regulated output for pumping up tires.
