Well, the big thing they teach now in high school is multi-culturalism.
And one thing kids learn (I learned this, so did my brothers) is that
before the USA, the Native Americans did not believe in individual
property rights.
So, we are going back to that now -- it's a return to our roots. God's
punishment to us for stealing the land to begin with? The Supreme
Court ruling may be one thing, but more interesting would be teens and
twentysomethings' opinions on it. My feeling is that they would think
lack of property rights is a Good Thing, because Native American
culture is far far superior to Western culture -- as they have been
taught.
Anyway, I think the whole concept of personal rights and freedom of
speech is a 20th century thing -- political correctness and this ruling
are bringing us in to a new era. And why not? If no one has anything,
and no one can say anything, then we will all be truly equal.
This is our future, so get ready!
