I judge the state of financial markets by the people who come into the
Starbucks Coffee place where I hang out a lot. Back five or six years ago
there were a lot of stock broker types, financial planners, gurus. Then
somehow they began to disappear, and more and more of the real estate people
across the street and newly-hired loan advisors from the banks down the
block began coming in. Now not quite as many of them are coming any more,
and I'd swear I saw some mutual fund salesmen hanging around yesterday.
