The problem is, it is ozone and other activated species in "fresh air"
that helps eliminate / destroy the odors. And a good healthy portion
of air exchange.
However by opening the window, you also let in dust, ash, and some
toxic fumes.
All things in moderation. Just "how much is moderate?"
