Andrew, have you checked your local builders supply? A molded six
panel door with pretty good sound insulation will run between thirty
and forty bucks, depending on the width. Sounds like a lot less
hassle that trying to "improve" the existing door.
As for sound coming under the door, roll up a towel, slip a series of
rubber bands around it to keep it rolled, and tuck it along the bottom
of the door.
Or there are alwasy ear plugs. Drop by any MRI facility and you can
probably talk them into giving you a pair free. '-)
