Oh, dear. That's awful.

It sounds like you have a termite infestation, and have had one for some
time. Termites swarm every X years (six? seven? I forget.), and yours are
swarming. I'd guess that at least some of them are living in the wood
of, and/or surrounding, your door. Probably elsewhere as well. So
that's the bad news.

The good news is that you can do termite control, either by tenting, or by
using other chemical treatments. I've done both. The tenting didn't
work for long - I had a new infestation a few years later. The second
treatment is some stuff that my new termite guy has put in by drilling holes
and dropping it in the walls. That seems to be doing well enough - we
have not seen any new evidence of bugs.

Don't panic. Termites are controllable, but you should probably assume
that you are going to need to treat every so often. Contact a pro. I do not
know where you are, but if you're in central florida, I can give you the
name of my guy. He's great.
