My Comcast cable box has both a Toslink (fiber) out and the little red/
white rca outputs(??? I think that's what it is). I'm trying to
understand if 5.1 surround sound MUST come through the Toslink or if
it can come through the other cable means.

We are exploring the Multi-zone products, like Speakercraft MZC-66,
and not sure how to make the Cable box a "source" when the only input
is a stereo RCA plug set. I know I could send the pre-out back to a
Dolby Pro Logic receiver to power the 5.1 living room setup, but will
the RCA plugs provide the proper signal?

Thanks for your help.
