When you add salt pellets or solar salt to a water softener, is that
supposed to decrease the amount of calcium in the water? And does that
increase the amount of sodium in the water?
The reason I ask is because my cat's calcium levels are very high. The
vet cannot find any reason for it to be that high, especially since
she's on a prescription diet to reduce calcium intake. The only thing
we could think of that would cause an increase in calcium levels is the
water. But since salt pellets are used, I thought that would decrease
calcium. Perhaps there's something else in the water.
