Plese read the following from:
CCFJ, Inc, Dispatch -- Please Distribute Widely!
April 25, 2006
Dear Governor Jeb Bush, Dear Secretary Simone Marstiller, Dear
Legislators, Friends and Members,
Astrid Buttari, Board President of The Village of Kings Creek
Condominium Association, Inc. -- or may be the board? -- donated
$10,000.00 of association funds to an outside group fighting rezoning
changes in the neighborhood. See:
http://www.ccfj.net/condo$10000donation.html
This donation is a clear and obvious violation of Florida statutes and
deed-restrictions and a breach of the fiduciary duty at the expense of
the condo-owners. There isn't even any doubt about it!
And all the DBPR did was sending a "WARNING LETTER" ! Condo owners
complained about this waste of their hard-earned money and got a slap
in the face: The warning letter to the board stated that a repeat
offense could be punished with a fine of up to $5,000 -- paid for by
the unit-owners. Isn't that adding gross insult to injury?
We see recently many board members making donations, for example to
CALL -- the lobbying arm of the law firm of Becker&Poliakoff P.A. --
that is being used to fight owner-friendly bills -- or creates bills
like HB 391, a clear insult to Florida firefighters!
If board presidents think that a particular cause is worthy of a
donation, they should do it from their own money. It's always easy to
be generous with other people's money -- in this case, unit owners'
money!
Board members should be accountable for their actions and should be
forced to return the money used for "donations" to the association
dues. What good is a warning letter? Do you honestly think these people
care?
Thank you for listening to our concerns!
Warm Regards,
Jan Bergemann, President
