Hi all. Here's my sitch: I bought my Sony rear projection 50A2000
about three months ago. And because I registered on the sonystyle
website, I have been offered a coupon for 15% a replacement bulb. So
instead of $300 Canadian, it would be $255, which seems good. The
warranty, I am told by Sony, would last for 90 days, and would commence
from the day of purchase. The coupon will expire on Friday.
The kicker is that I have also been told by Sony that the bulb that came
with my TV is guaranteed by Sony. If it blows or fails within two
years, they will replace it absolutely free. Something about how
there've been complaints about bad bulbs. So this replacement thing
is a goodwill gesture from Sony.
So my dilemma is this: should I buy the replacement bulb now? The
warranty will mean nothing by the time the present one will need to be
replaced. So if I put it in three years from now (as an example), it
could fail, and I'll wasted the money on it. But the price could go
up significantly by the time I need a new one. And it might be good
to simply have one on hand just in case.
Sigh. I dunno. What do you guys think I should do?
cheers,
vij
